365 Things to do in Worcester County - Read "How To Read a Person like a Book". In my opinion, almost any book is a worthwhile read. Some make you happy, some make you said. But the most valuable books to me are the ones that give you insight. "How to read a person like a book" is an easy read. It moves quickly and logically and it is a short book of approximately 100 pages. You can read it in an afternoon and come out with a better understanding of body language.
I always had a fascination with not just what people are saying to me, but what is the message behind it. It is interesting to find out that we all give off non verbal cues which are more honest and straight forward than the words we say. Did you know that when verbal and non verbal messages conflict, it's often the non verbal gestures that are hones.
What the book teaches is that it's not necessarily one behavior but a cluster of actions that indicate the persons true feelings. I also learned that it's not just the person you are talking to, whos gestures are indicative, but also our own body posture and actions that might give off the wrong signals - very important in communication and influence.
The book goes through facial expressions and depictions of various eye, mouth and nose gestures. The next section describes hand gestures. We then go through body positions and postures to understand people better. The book is basic, yet insightful. I made it my 365 Things to do in Worcester County - Read "How To Read a Person like a Book"., and you can too.
