The first time I drove from San Diego back to Houston, I stopped in Fredericksburg and did a little touring, including Fort Martin Scott. That was back in November 1993. I took the 290 cutoff from I-10 and drive that all the way into Austin and over to Houston.

Russel- There are a couple others along Hwy 290 east of Fredericksburg. 2 of my earlier posts were The Pinta Trail and Lower Grape Creek School. Both of those are east of Fredericksburg on Hwy 290.

Sondra- It is great that the State of Texas is able to preserve the History in this fashion and everyone has access to it.
