We're getting the spring tease weather in Silverton so far this month.  We're vacillating between rain, snow, hail, sun, clouds, more hail, and more peeks of sunshine.  It's shining at the moment so I'm dreaming of all the fun Summer events and festivals that people are working hard to plan right now.  All of the community happenings are part of what makes Silverton such a special place to live.  ~

Here’s what’s happening around Silverton this week: April 12 - 19

Merchant Meeting

Wednesday, April 13 8-9 am at Silverton Inn & Suites. Jose de la Rosa is the leader for the month of April. The topic for the meeting will be group advertising & marketing. Jose would like to extend a special invitation to all Silverton business people to attend the Merchant Meetings. (The meetings are not just for merchants, but all interested business people are welcome to attend.)

Today: Silverton High School Senior All Night Party Fundraiser April 12th at Mac's Place.
Come over and enjoy a great breakfast lunch or dinner while supporting our future! Mac's will be donating a portion of our proceeds from the ENTIRE DAY to help the SHS Seniors have a fantastic drug and alcohol free all-night party. Can't stay and eat? Swing by and grab a gift card, some food to-go or some Rong gear, all sales count!

Council Goal Setting
From City Manager Bryan Cosgrove:

The Silverton City Council will conduct a goal setting session on Saturday, April 16th in the Council Chambers at the Community Center from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Council desires to receive public input on community priorities prior to establishing community goals. To that end, the first part of the process is designed to solicit public comment from individuals and community groups. The public comment period will begin between 9:00-9:30 and will last until every person in attendance has the opportunity to present his/her ideas to Council. It would be helpful if you are speaking for a group to identify yourself as the spokesperson for that group and provide the facilitator with a written statement that lays out your input to Council. As a reminder, goals should be specific, measurable, and achievable within the planning horizon (2 years). Cara Pallone with the Appeal will be running an announcement about the session in the next edition of the Appeal. Council will use the information gathered during the public comment period, the results of the 2010 Community Survey, and their own personal goals for the community to establish a list of priorities for the next 2 years.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the process, or how to provide input if you cannot make it to the goal setting session but still desire to have your voice heard. Mail to BCosgrove@Silverton.or.us
