Special offer

April in the "D"

I think winter is finally behind us here in Metro Detroit. Sixty plus and sunny today, Tigers @ home vs. Texas Rangers and the Red Wings open the playoff season tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes. The Pistons?, well they got a new owner this week, probably the highlight of their season.

For anyone that has not been here, Michigan is a beautiful state. With over 11,000 inland lakes and streams, the "great lakes", sand dunes and forests, we have lots to offer the outdoors person. The great sports traditions, the International Jazz & Riverfront festivals have long been favorites and Windsor, Ontario across the river from Detroit gives us a unique international flavor, too.

I am getting excited to get down to the ballpark, maybe stop by Lafayette Coney Island for one of the best coney dogs anywhere or the Red Wings with a stop at Andrews on the Corner for the great atmosphere and terrific perch dinners (and a free shuttle to the game). What ever the case, April in the "D" is the kickoff to what hopes to be a great spring and summer.

I hope you are looking forward to a terrific spring and summer season as well.

I am from Port Huron and love Michigan. Some of my best years were spent in Traverse City. I wish I could join you for a Tigers Game.

David - I do as well. I loved Tiger stadium but I must say Comerica Park is beautiful and provides a great view of the city.
