Here we are the season to be giving. This time of year is the time we give the most. Some give all they have and some give what they can. There are some of us that would give if we could find a just cause to give too. Every one of us has a place we like to give donations to during this time of the year. These are the places that are doing good thing for the communities we live in. I wrote in a blog about Operation Santa Claus here in El Paso, Texas. Everyone hears about the big charities, but let people know about the small ones near and dear to you. If there is a good cause to donate to in your community please leave a post letting everyone know about it. It doesn't have to be long but leave some contact information or better yet leave a link to a site or blog that explains this cause. Thank you and god bless you.

Hey John,

I love giving back to our community. I ring bells around town for the Salvation Army, serve dinner to the homeless and work with children that have physical disabilities...Hopefully, people do random acts of kindness year round...

Have a great weekend!

Scott

Giving should be done throughout the year and not just on special occasions.  People are not just homeless on holidays or hungry on on holidays.  They are, especially here in America always hungry.  So we all need to give of our time, funds, food, clothing or even shelter if we can afford to do so.

Hi John - I agree with Scott and Netta that giving shouldn't be limited to just the holidays. A local cause that I support in Las Vegas is Corps of Compassion.  ( www.jointhecorps.org ) They were founded last year to aid people who were relocating to Las Vegas after Katrina. Now they're focused on fighting children's hunger in the valley. And I think that's important - helping people locally in your own community. Thanks for your post!

Hi John, nice post and sentiment. I'm doing a few things this year including donating some paintings for an auction to raise funds for WomenInLiteracy.org, one of my favorite causes to support.

I agree with all of you. You should give year round or help out those in need when ever you can. This can also be a depressing time of year for those who don't have much. Operation Santa is giving toys to kids who might not get anything this year. When I was younger I went a few christmas without anything. I don't want any children to ever feel like that if it  can be helped. A little bit can go a long way.
