Museum of ArtMuseums & The Arts of Philadelphia:

The art museums of Philadelphia offer a fascinating alternative to the well-known institutions of New York and Washington. In fact very few North American cities offer as rich and exciting an opportunity to view the full range and quality of American and European and world art as does Philadelphia.

Hi Jeff, Loving the series.  I saw this one, and realized I missed  the last few.  Having lived there for most of my life, I can say too all that are reading that you are doing a fine job.  There is way too much to cover, but you are getting a lot.  Maybe in a future blog you can cover some of the lesser know tourist sites, but still worthwhile nonetheless like the Waterworks and Boathouse Row, Fairmount Park Mansions etc.  Also on the sports team blog, don't forget that the A's started our in Philly.  Everybody seems to know that the Dodger's start in Brooklyn, but let's not forget about our beloved Philly!

Adam... thanks for the kind words. I have actually enjoyed reading these. I am still at my parents house until tomorrow. I helped with some yard work and watching my 2 nieces and nephews now. My whole point to my dad who is not only a history buff, a king of trivia... I told him that that Walnut Street Theatre is the oldest Theatre in America. And he was like...oh really. So, my whole point is that even though it took a while to get half way through this series... I have learned a lot also.

In regards to Boathouse row and the fairmont Park mansions... and the Main Line Mansions.... that is in my 4th and 6th series. # 4 being local sites, restaurants, & pubs and # 6, surrounding areas of Philly. But thanks for the points. But as you said.... just so much to right about. And Brian Brady mentioned even doing a series separate of the towns surrounding philly.... I might need an assistant.  care to help?

And yes...you are correct about the Philadlephia A's... I was...but again, too much info. And I was curious to see who would pick up on that.... you did.... after 30 comments or so....  thanks again.

So when you are done with the series, I expect to see a picture of you at the top of the Philadelphia Museum of Art's steps with your arms up in the air (Rocky style)... he was the champ of the ring and you can be AR's Philly champ.  Good post... look forward to reading the others.

Jeff, I just saw the first Rocky movies yesterday, still one of my favorites. I think that you better re-think that tourist guide suggestion again.

Jason..... thanks for the kind words of wisdom.  To be honest, I know these aren't the most exciting blogs..not funny, chucked full of good stories... but I think I spent the most time on them and I really was hoping for more comments.... maybe more so on.... gee, interesting. Wow... I didn't know that... ah, trivia...

All in all... I would think that there would be more trivia buffs on AR, especially with over 9,000 members.....

But Jason... I didn't want to get away from your comment. But I will say this... I have learned a lot from these blogs. 2 things... how to blog better when in regards to a certain area or location.... and that I actually learned some new history stuff.

Rich.....  Thanks for stopping by stranger. But in all honesty, how mant can he do. Is he desperate?  Can it be that good?  The first one... a true classic. Maybe 2 others....good.... the rest, I felt like I was watching Ramboo reruns.... is there a difference?  lol

George.... wow.... are you behind times. When did the first one come out?  1981?  In regards to the tourism thing... again, thanks for that awesome compliment....but no thanks. I love what I do. So I am good at two things now... lol

guess what my human test was....  gooseberry... close enough?

Jeff, I never expect many comments for my posts that are more locally geared. I know that it detracts from my comments scores on the dashboard, but I try to keep the BIG picture in mind, giving consumers and potential clients good local content. I sacrifice a few comment points now for some $$$ in my pockets later. A worthwhile exchange, I think. You're doing a good job with this series!

Rich....  I totally agree, hence the reason that I did the series of blogs on Philadelphia. I still have 3 more to go.... lol   Damn, did I start a project that has been a lot of work. But I need to get the public to read these now....  any ideas?

Thanks for stopping back again....

Jeff, I hope you'll compile these into a book or booklet, either printed or an e-book and make them available on your website and to send out to your prospects. It's a great introduction to your city. I enjoy your posts and look forward to the rest of the series.

Rich is right - local posts rarely get comments, but that doesn't mean they aren't very worth while.

Carl.... Thanks for the great compliment. If you ever come on down, just give me a shout. And I am serious about that.

Sharon....... Thanks for stopping by and the nice comments. I am so behind the times. I need to find out how to do an e-book. And then what to do with them.... lol  I will use Brian Brady's idea though.

In regards to Rich's comment....trust me, I agree. It's just funny, because this series is what took me the most time. And I am sure that I missed some info at the end, because I was rushing it.... after a few hours doing this post.

Thanks again...  and if anyone can point me in the right direction on how to do an e-book, I would appreciate it.

Jeff,

Great article and continuation of your "mini series" on Philly. I have no idea what you could do to make it better other than an eBook....and I'm not sure what all that intails...but I think you have what it takes to make it come together.

Yes, I would imagine that writing these types of posts would give one more of a sense of appreciation of the area(s) we live, work and play in.  I'm curious... did you learn anything you didn't already know?  Looking forward to the next part in your series.

If anyone has any other ideas about sending these as a series of blogs into the new papers, the local TV, copy righting these and anything else, I would greatly appreciate and help, contacts, and or feedback. Ravi had sent me something and Rob was looking into something.

By the way Rob... anything?  ;o)
