There is something for everyone here Elizabeth.  The Civil War exhibit at the postal museum sounds very interesting.  Isn't that right next to Union Station?  I remember going there in 2006.

Such an interesting place to live!

Elizabeth, there is so much to do in your area.  When I lived in Virginia I was always amazed at the wonderful museums and the fact that admission to most of them is free.  Love the National Gallery so much.

Hi Elizabeth,

I had no idea D.C. and Arlington were so 'hip and happening.'  Looks like lots of fun with something for everyone.  And each activity you've described comes complete with a link to get more details. This post is very thorough and helpful.  Keep up the great work and I know it'll pay big dividends.

I agree with Toni (#6) above about the play; and Roy (#7) sent you an unusual, exotic flower.

Bruce - yes, the building is close to Union Station. There are always many activities to choose from around DC, especially during spring and summer. Have a great weekend.

Samantha- you are right, most of the museums are government owned and free. We are lucky to live so close to the Smithsonian. My kids and I are frequent visitors to museums and the Zoo.

Brian- Civil War is a fascinating period in American history. My 10-year old son loves anythingrelated to military and weapons, without any encouragement on my part. I believe our sons would have a great time together if they could meet.

Toni - thank you for visiting. The play sounds fun and I would love to see it with my kids, if we can find any free time this weekend.

Roy - I will be taking some pictures, somewhere. Thank you for sharing the unusual with me.

Justin and Krystal - I hope you have a great time. There are always great events going on in DC. One of the places you may want to visit is Alexandria, Virginia. There are some great restaurants and shops there.

Lloyd - thank you for being such a faithful reader of my local posts. Yes, Arlington is small, but has a lot to offer. I'm  not sure if you follow hockey (I have only recently become a fan of hockey due to my hockey-playing son), but some of the major players, the hip ones, chose Arlington as their home. Good to see you, and have a great weekend.
