BRIGHT IS MY FUTURE

LUKE TURNS ONE

BRIGHT IS MY FUTURE.  Celebrating his 1st birthday, my youngest grandson has more on his face than cake--he has a hopeful smile.  He spent untold hours at the baseball parks this past weekend: his two brothers played 8 games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and yet he smiles.  He doesn't miss a thing either--he spotted me with some chicken strips, and watched every step I took.  He went to great lenghts to get my attention--he wanted to help me eat it.

I've become a "trained granddad": I check with the moms before giving the babies anything to eat (it is different from my childhood when we ate anything we could chew): allergies, choking, and other uncertainties have made me gun-shy of my old habits.  His brother is allergic to peanuts, and I have learned to read food labels before buying treats for the kids.

For fear of his choking on the chicken strips, I hesitated to share; and his other grandmother suggested putting some cherios on the dish so I could share them with him.  That boy gave me a look I won't soon forget: "Granddad, that ain't chicken!"  "What are you trying to pull on me?"  He wanted no part of those cherios!

It occurs to me, that some agents try the same tricks with clients and fellow agents.  The results are the same: "What are you trying to pull on me?"   Deception has no part in real estate, and understanding that is to my advantage (and yours).

BRIGHT IS MY FUTURE.  Like Luke, I have been on an adventure this past year--it is called ACTIVERAIN!  I have discovered many things, I have grown, and am beginnig to take new steps each day.  Yes, like Luke, BRIGHT IS MY FUTURE!

My future is not dependent on who is in the White House, Congress, nor how my sports teams are doing--my future is dependent on ME taking new steps, wise steps, courageous steps, and I CAN DO THAT.  I am a blessed man (God has blessed me with a precious family, dear friends, and life in America).  Opportunity awaits.

Money is not what drives me--there is a higher calling, and that calling gives me the faith, the confidence and the determination to succeed.  Beyond that, I have found a group of like-minded individuals who hold to that higher standard of doing what is right and doing what it takes to fulfill our obligations to our clientel.  It is here, at ACTIVERAIN that we are able to build one another up and better equip ourselves to provide service we can be proud of.

If you've read this far, you are one of those rainmakers who cares, and makes our profession better.  THANK YOU.  You allow me to declare: BRIGHT IS MY FUTURE!

Norma, Adorability--he didn't get that from me; but I agree.  Children are so attentive to their surroundings, and their enthusiasm helps keep me young.  I'm 64, but remain a teenager at heart--I have always known that my senior year in high school would remain a cherished part of my life.  Now I know God has blessed me far beyond my dreams.  Thank you for your kind comment.  If you snoop thru my previous blogs, you will find that my blessings are abundant (Luke is #8 of 9 grand children).  Any one of those children is more than a life's worth of blessings.

Maggie,

He's talking up a storm--we just haven't determind in what language.  My grandchildren are key to my future, and the symbolism relevant to my real estate business is not lost on me.  The older I get--the younger my clientel becomes; but they have their own savy about them.  One thing does not change: give the client honest, determined and reliable service, and they will see the value.  Someone asked what is the difference between an old man and a young man.  The answer: Experience.  I learn something everyday, and I am confident so do you.  May 2011 be a great year for you.
