Spring Has Sprung In Washington, DC's Crestwood!

This morning, I took Willie the Labradoodle on a very short walk around the block.  And I was amazed at all of the early bloomers we saw along the way.  For a second I thought, "Drats!  Forgot my camera!"  Then I remembered that my trusty little I-Phone was in my pocket.  So I snapped a few:

These are the lilacs in my friends Carl and Maggie's house, and they make Webster Street smell just heavenly this week!

Then, as I walked through the alley, I found these along the back fences of the row houses along 17th Street.

A few houses down the alley, a lilac like scent caught my attention, and I found these beauties growing outside of one of the fences.

Just after we turned the corner onto Allison Street, we passed Marcia Hart's terraced front garden, and Willie and I both stopped to sniff and photograph these beauties.

A bit further down the block, we found these in front of the Fitch residence:

And when we turned onto the back alley, we passed a hidden rear garden.  I took this one through the fence.

Once we got back onto Webster, we found this dogwood.  Some favorite old clients, David and Maureen Wilmot, planted this right after they moved in, and before they moved out to California.

And these are just the early bloomers!  Wait another month or two after the roses start to bloom!

Pat-What gorgeous flowers. I had a huge lilac in my front walkway in NY. It smelled heavenly. My neighbor had a french lilac. A deeper shade of lavender and it was even more fragrant.

Pat - And to think , not so long ago we were all (or at least most of us) wondering if Spring would ever get here!  Glad not know there's blooms somewhere ... here we are in April with snow showers forecast for the higher elevations again this weekend ... and the valley floor with a possibility of rain!  (What is that thing about April showers and May flowers ....)

Pat--If ever there was a spring post, this is it!!!  And how nicely your tulip border accents the topic.  I could smell the lilacs and viburnum.  A couple more warm days and mine here in Indy will be fragrant too!  Had to suggest this lovely post!

Pat, I took some shots this week of some of our littlest hyacinths and croci before the snow fell again.  We don't have much out yet.  What was coming just got frozen off again.

Really nice photos.  Thanks.
