The Best Recruit is the One that Comes Home

We had an agent who was nearly heartbroken when she left our office to try out another office that focused more on rentals.  We were very sad to see her go but were supportive of her decision.

Her decision was based on their pitch to her that she could do a lot more rentals with their office and that appealed to her to Shirlene Goff at RE/MAX Accessadd to her business mix.  On top of that it seemed like they promised a few more things which is always dangerous especially if you cannot deliver on those promises.  And worse, did not live up to the expectations of what was initially pitched in the first place...

Fast forward and she is back at RE/MAX Access !  Sure enough, it sounds like the other office made the classic business mistake of "Over-promising and Under-delivering" .

What is EXCITING to me for our office is what better testimonial is there for an agent to try out a competing office, be severely disappointed and return to RE/MAX Access !

Our office manager said it best "I knew she would be back".

Welcome back Shirlene !!!!!!!   Welcome home !!!!

We missed you !!!

Hi Christopher and Stephanie - This phenomenon is not specific only to the real estate profession.  It occurs in many professions and industries.  Often the term "boomerang" is used.

You did the right thing with your agent by letter her go and supporting her decision.  When she realized that her new office was not what she expected, she felt comfortable returning to you.  A win-win situation.

Christopher and Stephanie,

Hats off to you for running an awesome office! And to Shirlene for realizing she made a mistake and correcting it.

The grass can certainly look greener on the other side, but looks can be deceiving. I'm glad she was welcome to come back!

I've had three agents leave and come back.  They were rather new agents at the time, and the grass always looks greener, I guess.  When they left, I told them to not get rid of their business cards, and I always welcomed them back.  It take a move to make people realize that you eat what you kill in this business.

Like Judy, I love how you treated Shirlene. Not all brokers would be that supportive of someone needing to check that grass on the other side of the fence.

Shirleen must have left on good terms!  The grass sometimes looks greener in another pasture.  If someone is busy with their business they do not have time to look!  I hope Shirleen is successful, my experience is until the issue that caused a person to look is addressed they will continue looking for the greener pasture.
