What's Your Vision for the Future?

By
Home Stager

What's your vision for the future?  Do you have a clear picture of exactly what you want your life to look like today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year or in 10 to 20 years?  Experts tell us that it's important to be very specific when setting our goals - the more specific we are, the better the likelihood of achieving that which we desire.

Have you ever created a "vision board"?  The experts also tell us that our minds need a very clear picture [literally] of exactly what we want to manifest.  Creating a vision board containing pictures of what we want our lives to look like and what we hope to achieve will help our brains stay focused on what it is we want in our lives.

Of course you can visualize, imagine and dream all you want but nothing is going to happen until you take whatever ACTION is necessary.  The hope is that remaining constantly focused on our desired end result will help us overcome our resistance to taking that necessary action - force us to do what needs to be done. After all, we know what needs to be done, the hard part is actually doing it.

I stumbled upon this fun free website www.WeightMirror.com that helps us visualize exactly what we will look like at our ideal weight.  Since the process of visualization is so important, the hope is that it will help us stay focused on our health, fitness and weightloss goals.  Check it out and let me know what you think!

And please let me know, what's your vision for the future?

I just recently ordered an Anthony Robbins CD set to "set" myself straight. It is not that I am lazy, I just have a habit of fits and starts. The only thing I ever finish is dinner.....

Karen, I have a contrarian view of this 5, 10, 20 yr view of life looking backwards. I like the visualization but the adjustments have to be made along the way. TOO many unpredictables and God laughs at our plans I think is so true. But try, nonetheless, but don't be surprised if you end up somewhere completely else than what you thought.

This would be a great post for the Take it off in the Rain group!!  Had to laugh at Gary's comment (#5). He's right! I'm sure God laughs at a lot of our plans! :O) I'm glad He has a great sense of humor! xxoo

Ellie - if you're where you want to be, then whatever you're doing must be working for you. I'm not one to mess with success

Jeanne - glad to hear it.  It's important to make adjustments along the way, especially as goals are achieved, it's important to set new ones.

Kathy - you're funny.  And Tony is awesome, you'll love hearing what he has to say

Li - thank you.

Gary - God does indeed laugh at our plans - that's for sure!  I hear what you're saying, but I also believe that without a road map to where we want to be, we might end up someplace we really don't want to be.  We must be willing to make adjustments during our journey.

Joni - Thank goodness God has a sense of humor!

Karen, very well said.  You need to have a vision of what you want, but a vision also requires action on our part in order to be achieved.

Hi  Karen,

Floyd Wickman from Swethogs, over 20 years ago , required the students to his sweathog classes to start his 12 week program to create a key ring (with keys) that had the visual and or miniture versions of all the places and or items that made up your goals, dreams and passion....

Many would create laminated prints of what they had as goals, and carry it around for the duration of the progam.....

I guess not much has changed over the decades, goals visualized and kept in fron of you will generate results....... almost guaranteed.

Norma - god for you

George - that's the hard part

Ellen - I wish losing weight was that easy too - we need that action George was talking about

Mr & Mrs Pfanntastic - A lot of this advice about achieving goals has been around for a long time - 100's if not 1000's of  years.

Gail - Thanks!

Karen -- I'm going to create a 'vision' of me at weightmirror (cool site!) and post it on my wall.  That might give me more incentive to lose a few pounds. LOL
