Headed down to one of the Local Bridges last night with Rob to do a little Nightime Bridge fishing. Rob had told me that they had done very well a few days last week so I was pretty stoked for a big fish.

Arrived about 9pm and started to set up. Lowered a lantern hung on a rope down to the waters surface. This will attract bait fish and with the bait fish there we should expect to see some Game fish eating the bait.

It was incredible to say the least. We caught our own bait with a dip style net and then used light action poles to catch some bait fish to use for the Big Girls. Landed up catching a few Lady Fish and tossed them out with the intentions of catching a Big Female Snook or two.
I had the first bite which we think was a very large Snook, big powerful hit on the bait, which by the way the baits we were using were anout 14 inches long. She broke me off in the pilings pretty quickly. Evil or Very Mad

Saw lots of Large Tarpon and Snook coming out of the shadow lines to eat the bait that was attracted to the light of the lantern.

Here is a couple pics of the Fish we actually landed last night.

This was my Snook, measured just over 36 inches and we guessed on the weight of 15 - 17 pounds, Great Fight She put up, and she was released to breed again.

Here is Rob with the Tarpon he landed, guessed it to be in the 30 pound class.. Man what a fight this fish put up, several leaps in the air and a few good runs.

Fishing for these fish should remain very good for the next couple months or until we start to get the first Cold Fronts of the year.

Till next time: Happy Fishing!!! Very Happy

Susan, Shhhhh your giving away top secret info...LOL

Robert - Dont you have Stripers to fish for in NC??? They are a force to be reconed with as well..

Stripers are 'OK' compared to snooks.

Snooks are awesome!!! You can put in a HUGE LADYFISH...or mullet and you know something huge is going to get it.

The fight is very nice....and the eating is the best!

I only caught one striper here...but threw it back in. It was about 36inches.

Someone told me it was a baby.....

Jay, Nice fish, I want to know how you slipped out of the house. Between soccer, school events, and church functions with the kids, I never get out.

I was just talking to a REALTOR friend today about Snook, that one's making my mouth water.  The last Tarpon I hooked got bit in half by a hammerhead in B.G. Pass while on a nice leap.  Thanks Jay.

Scott  We left the house at about 8pm is, fished until after 2am.. Kids were in Bed. Now ya know why I was so out of it today at the office.

Kevin  Maybe we should get out and throw a few baits together one of these days. I fish Boca Grande quite often and have watched the hammerheads terrorize the Tarpon.

Jay, I laughed when I looked to see what tackle I had here.  Do you think an ultra-lite spinner with 4lb. test will be okay.  I don't know when but I will call you before I head up that way though.
