Tornadoes Touch Down in the Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex Area

Tornadoes Touch Down in the Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex Area

Hi all. By now I'm certain you've heard the news that the Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex area experienced a major storm the other day, with tornadoes touching down throughout the area.

The news was not good. As of now 23 people were confirmed dead.

I wanted to thank each and every one of you who contacted me to see if me and my family were OK.

I'm happy to report that all is well in the Rutman household.

I was actually in the car heading to FL to visit my mom for a few days, so I missed everything.

But my buddies in the area all lost power, and endured a day of worry.

Fortunately everyone of them survived the storm with little to no damage.

As for me, I'll be in and out of the Rain for the next few days as I try to unwind for the busy Real Estate season ahead.

Hi Craig, it's amazing the destruction that the weather can cause.  I was concerned, but when I saw your comment on Awesome Jane's post I thought you were OK - I didn't know you were in Florida, though.  Glad to hear that you are taking a break, that your friends and family are safe, and oh so sorry for those who have lost their homes and lives to this storm.  Be Well, see you when you get back!

Craig ~  We were thinking of you and your family last evening as we were battened down and heard from my Son and Grandson, who were in Raleigh and within about 50' of one of the tornadoes.  Glad to know you're safe and sound and on a well-deserved respite.

Craig, good to see you escaped the storm.   We had a very, very, very close call in NE Raleigh.  Saw a home completely gone in Cardinal Grove, as well as a lot of damage in Valley Stream, Winchester, Starmount, and on Yonkers Rd right next to the beltline.  Downtown Raleigh was hit pretty bad as well.  Enjoy your time away from this rowdy crowd!

Hi Craig,

Well thankfully you and your home are safe.  It is heartbreaking how massive and sudden the destruction that a tornado can cause.  Lives changed in an instant.

Craig, first how sad what happened to all those victims of this weather. I have not had the news on for a while now, so I did not know.....Second glad to hear you and your family are OK...on a side note this will be one of your unusual post, not the funny, happy posts you usually generate....

Craig so glad you are out of the area and able to take a much needed rest.  So sorry to hear about the tragedies down there.  Nothing could ever have prepared anyone for this weather and luckily there were not more lives lost.  Glad you, your family and friends made it through okay.

Hi Craig, I just read about it in our local paper and I immediately thought of you. Your the only one I know from that area, even though I never met you (I guess it's a testament to your blogging) but here's the article I read in case you want to see what this part of the nation is saying. Dozens die in twisters

I'm really glad to hear that you and everyone you know are ok

Everyone - Thank you one and all for your well wishes. While this storm was devastating for many here in the area, and throught NC, as well as many other states, I'm thankful everyone I know is safe and sound. I typically reply to each and every comment, but I'm on a bit of a vacation and just checking in every now and then. So please don't feel slighted if you didn't get a personal response this time around. I'll be back next week and everything will be back to normal (whatever that is for me) at that time.

Craig,

Sending lots of prayers that way. I grew up in that area. My family moved when I was 10. Many great memories.

To close to home Craig, your family and you were are my mind and I sent prayers that all was good and safe...so glad to hear.  I had a friend, Hugh, who got caught up in the tornado's...he told me his family and him had to outrun one and then hid...he was in the heart of it and just returned to nyc...thank god he's okay. Mother nature is unbelievable sometimes.
