The original finish - a walnut stain on the rosewood.  Still see the wood grain variation, but it is more subdued.

Oooooh - that's tough - they're both so pretty. My guess is option number 2 will appeal to more people than option 1. Option 1 may be tough to incorporate with other woods... just my 2 cents. :)

Sharon - I think it depends on the type of house and decor. I must say, I also like both, but I think many younger people seem to be going for the natural look these days (here in Canada anyway)!
