Feeling grateful and Blessed today
If you're here looking for something real estate related, awe-inspiring or funny, you may as well move on. Today I am simply feeling grateful and Blessed and wanted to do more than just say it out loud. That's also why you won't see any pictures of the destruction here -- I believe in focusing on the positive.
The South has been hit hard the last few days with terrible storms and tornadoes. At least 39 lives have been claimed by the storms we've seen. Residents of Wilmington NC were told on Friday to gear up for our share of major storm activity. We were Blessed. After taking everything in and battening down the hatches we only had some rain, thunder, lightning and a little wind. In my opinion it could hardly call itself a storm. Thank you, God!
Other areas of NC were not so fortunate. The most recent news tells us that 22 NC residents lost their lives and more than 130 were injured. Overall, NC saw 62 tornado touchdowns across 20 counties.
In Raleigh NC residents and business owners are banding together to help those who lost their homes and/or belongings to the storms.
Movers not Shakers in Raleigh has offered to move tornado victims' belongings to a storage unit for free this week. U-Haul is offering 30 days of free storage to those affected by the storms. The Hilton Raleigh-Durham Airport hotel is offering a discounted rate to tornado victims, as well. People should ask for the distressed passenger rate.
If you would like to make a donation to help those affected by the storm, The Red Cross will accept donations online or at 1-800-733-2767. Samaritan's Purse, who has dispatched three disaster relief units, is seeking volunteers to help with relief efforts. You can get further information from their website.
Please remember the people affected, the responders and the relief organizations in your prayers. It's going to take a while to clean up from this and even longer for some to heal. Your prayers can go a long way in helping to make things easier on everyone affected.
Wherever you are today, I hope and pray that you are well, healthy and surrounded by those you love. Seems so little to ask for, and yet, so much to have. Wishing you a Blessed week!
