Loved Ones Battling Cancer: Jen Goodman Linn

Jen Goodman Linn is the wife of a friend of mine from business school.  She is also the founder of Cycle4Survival.   Jen was a 33 year old newly wed when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.  In typical Jen style, she is now a six time cancer survivor and has created Cycle For Survival which is now the largest patient led cancer fundraiser in the country.  Through 2010, Cycle For Survival has raised more than $4.5m for cancer research targeting orphan cancers which are rare forms of cancer, typically with limited research support.   She is a true inspiration in every sense of the word.

I have learned a great deal from her and her husband Dave Linn about living with cancer.  Today, more than 12 million people live with or are cancer survivors.  That's 4% of the US population.  It is highly likely that each and every one of us with be affected by or have a loved one battling with cancer during our life time.

Jen just posted an challenging but inspirational post on her blog tonight which I follow via FaceBook.  Just as she was seemingly on the path to recovery, her cancer has returned and she is preparing for the next battle.

She posted an inspirational and hopeful quote that I wanted to share: "Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley.:  Theodore Roethke
