Lake or Golf Course?

My wife and I, both agents with Keller Williams Realty in Shreveport Louisiana, have been showing a lot of homes on the lake and on the golf course.  Both of us are working with different clients, but the clients are in similiar price ranges.  What is the attraction to living right on the lake and right on the golf course?  I understand the view of a beautiful sunset on the lake, but the price range that we are showing is without a view.  I would love to hear some opinion of why people that spend more than your average joe want to live on the lake or on a golf course.  Just curious.

Please feel free to lay it all out...is it a pride issue?  Is it a "keeping up with the Jones's"?  Is it prestige?  What is the draw to these upper end price range homes that can be bought for a lot less money if they are not on the lake or on the golf course.

By the way, who wants golf balls and mesquitoes in the back yard all the time?

We're on a lake and a golf course.  Ideally you should have the lake between you and the course.  But the western exposure for those sunsets is well worth the price (gulp) we paid for this house.

Last year, we bought a fix-up on a golf course with a lake on the far side of the fairway, and we really appreciate the location.   I have this huge backyard that's full of wildlife (geese, heron, rabbits, coyotes, and more), that is kept green year round by someone else!

My husband is an avid golfer, and he likes to sit out on the patio and watch the golfers play by.  The golfers are more focused on their game than on us, so our privacy hasn't been a big issue.

We both prefer lots of open space around us, and this home has been a great living experience.  After the course closes, we feel like we live in a park. It's a relaxing lifestyle for us.
