Is your follow-up working?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Happy Grasshopper

I need your help, RainMakers!

I've been researching the follow-up methods used in real estate sales and need some love from my ActiveRain buddies.  All of us want more of the people we meet to become our customers, right?  So how do you do it?

  1. What methods are you using?

  2. What have you tried that doesn't work?

  3. What is your favorite?  How much does it cost and how long does it take?

  4. How important is this issue to you?

Please just answer in the comments below.  Why do I ask, you say?

Well, if you haven't heard about us yet, Happy Grasshopper is an automated email marketing service that helps you follow-up with prospects, networking contacts and former customers.  So, naturally, I'm interested in all things follow-up.  (You may have seen several of the testimonials about us here in the Rain.)

I'd thought it would be really valuable for the Active Rain community to compile some things that work the best.  Thanks in advance for sharing, I'll make sure to compile all the responses and get them to everyone who comments.  I'll even send a few lucky commentors a tray of my famous brownies. :)

Thanks for sharing Kristi.  It is all about the conversation, I really liked Dennis' idea about the 10 before 10 as well.  Hey Dennis - are you up for me doing an interview and post about your system - I think it is a winner and I like the catchy name!

I follow up with phone calls, hand written notes and the occassional pop-by's.  The brownies look delicious and would make a wonderful pop by!

I used Top Producer 7i for follow-up and loved it... I find 8i less user-friendly and have gotten very sloppy with my keep-in-touch efforts.  'Guess I should be checking out Happy Grasshopper.

I always start my day by calling at least 10-20 past clients and SOI in the morning. I send out postcards and handwritten notes sometimes. I will look closely at your service because I am sure I could benefit from it.

I totally agree with Margaret regarding TP 7i....it really was a great tool for follow up and for scheduling activities such as birthday cards, happy 1st year in your home...etc. I am using 8i but I love to explore anything that is fresh and new. I will check it out...thanks

I find people are refreshed by old fashioned personal followup they thank me for getting in touch personally can you imagine they think that is a nice guesture   I m thinking they think automated emails are lazy

Ive tried different programs like TP but found it cumbersome to use and to automated sounding

Any ideas for systems I 'd love  please do  I am truly working on getting systems more streamlined this year without losing the personal touch my referral base has come to love and appreciate....

Thank you so much

Hello Celeste,

I would think that along with phone follow up some of those delicious Brownies would work well.  It seems that as long as we 'follow up' no matter the method, it will get the results we need.

@Colleen - Mmmm...brownies!

@Margaret - thanks for taking a look!

@Barbara - WOW!  That's some serious calling!  I'm sure you could benefit using HG - the time savings alone could be huge.

@Julieann - sorry to hear you're also bummed with their new edition - hopefully we can help you out!  :)

@Michele - Um...err...you do know we send automated email messages right?  We just make sure they don't look automated.  Here's what a totally 3rd party has to say about us, in context of "cheating" http://www.successfullysolo.com/blog/?p=455&preview=true

@Charles - Again...mmmm...brownies :)

Have a great day everybody!!

I like the handwritten notecard as well, however I mostly send emails to follow up. I have considered using a drip campaign, but haven't as of yet.

Hi Celeste, I follow up via email mostly as that is usually how most of my client interactions flow after they initially contact  me for services - via phone usually. I would like to do more phone follow up, but email has worked fine thus far. I'll have to check out your services. Glad I found you.

Celeste, I will at times phone people, but for me, a visit is the most effective and cost-effective means I use.

Celeste, interesting concept and service. I prefer to write my own words and I follow up by delivering results. I normally work only with clients who are ready to purchase. I did request a sample and was disappointed samples were not available directly on the site without first providing an email address. I currently use social media to stay in touch with my sphere.  For me, email has always been more about communication than marketing. Good luck with your efforts.

There are so many programs for follow up - the key is just using them.  I used Top Producer (have for 15 years and it works well)  Haven't heard of your serivce, but if I were just starting out, I would consider looking into it.

Celeste, this is an interesting business model.  I follow up with calls, notes and email.  I really can't add anything beyond what these other brainiacs added.  Good stuff!

Can't find the e-mail that Happy Grasshopper sent with my free trial, so I am locked out of that.

Hi Celeste - right now its just the "good old" phone calls, post cards and short note cards. Will need to consolidate into a more automated process.
