News has recently come out that the Department
of Homeland Security has chosen Selfridge ANG
base in Macomb County to be the new location
of a Northern Border Air Wing.
What does this mean for Selfridge, Harrison Township and Macomb County?
This addition to SANG would mean approximately 100 new jobs at the base
along with new aircraft that can scramble quickly to protect our border to
the north.
It also means that "Flight" watchers like me will now have more reasons
to pull over to the side of M-59 or Jefferson and get out of my car to
marvel at not only the new planes & helicopters but at the bravery of our
men and women who fly them and make up the crew of these aircrafts.
A big "THANK YOU" to our Michigan Senators Carl Levin & Debbie Stabenow
for consistently looking out for the interests of our area and promoting
Selfridge ANG as the jewel it is to the country and the community.
The Air Force still has to approve the lease and agreement, and I hope
that can take place quickly.

Kris,
That's great news for the area. Hopefully it will help the market in the area.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes to check out the aircraft in the inventory.
