MAKE ME LOOK GOOD !

Reblogger Valerie Osterhoudt

Sheldon makes a lot of sense in his blog about referrals.  He is very professional and I wouldn't hesitate at anytime to send him a referral/ potential client.  Maybe we can all take some advice, and pointers from his post.

Dont you just love referrals ???

I know I do !

They are one of my favorite things in the whole wide world !

I love to give them, and I love to receive them ! I'm a love-all serve-all "Referral Junkie" !

BUT ! Along with getting or giving referrals comes a pretty big responsibility ... and that is to make the referring party LOOK GOOD FOR REFERRING YOU !

Now I'm not just talking about smiling nicely, and being sweet to the client - although there is some expectation of that - but I mean REALLY being on top of your game, even more than ever, going that extra mile, making the extra check in phone call, doing that extra market search for pertinent data that may interest the client - not because they asked for it, but just as an FYI - I mean making sure when you say Thursday by noon, that you dont deliver Friday by 9, truly listening to the clients needs, but also picking up on the type of person they are, and adjusting your approach to make them happy !

And yes, ALWAYS showing energy and positivity when you speak to them, show them homes, sit down with them, or have any communication with them at all !

And I KNOW that you are supposed to be doing all of this with every client, but there should be even more of a push to not waiver in these things when the client comes from a referral - because it's not just your reputation you are dictating, but the person who referred you too.

I can tell you this, that from a personal standpoint, I truly appreciate when agents I refer clients to keep me in the loop. Periodic update emails to the referring agent go a long way in them feeling that you are truly on top of your game, and that they made the right choice referring you.

The converse is also just as noticeable !

If you dont give updates, are not reachable when I call you, and if I get calls from the client asking ME for updates - then guess how many times I'm going to refer you in the future ???!!!!!

So !

The bottom line, if you are an agent, a plumber, an attorney, a painter, or anyone that I refer a client to...

MAKE ME LOOK GOOD !!

Cheers All !!
