My old tulip magnolia was badly damaged several years ago in a wind and snow storm.  It was so sad to see the branches split off all the way down to the bottom of the trunk and even sadder to have to have such an old pretty tree of over 20 feet chopped back and almost all the way down.  I never dreamed it would return, grow or bloom again.  This year I was rewarded with a much smaller tree but healthy and in full bloom!
