I am very thankful for our ability to change and adapt to changes in our profession. The very act of participating on Active Rain is a sign that you're willing to adapt to the changing way that our business is run. Yesterday, we had an office meeting where it was suggested that we meet together for no more than an hour at least every month and help each other get a better grasp on technology.
The idea is to help others learn to move into the "new" age of technology. I used to think that I was pretty good at keeping up with things, but have learned just how quickly things change! I don't want this meeting to become a situation to take away anyone's competitive advantage, but rather more of how to blog, or add widgets and plug ins to a Word Press web site. How to start a business plan for using technology and tips of what is needed and what isn't.
I don't think that this is really any different from a quote that I love from Mark Twain:
"A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read."
I really think that we have evolved to the point that technology is becoming that elementary, and I really am thankful that there are people in our office that are willing to teach each other how to "read" in this instance. I do believe that you have to know how to utilize this technology (ie read) to compete!
