St. Albans is located in the borough of Queens. It is bordered north of Springfield Gardens and
Laurelton, west of Cambria Heights and southeast of Jamaica and is part of Community Board 12.
St. Albans is a neighborhood assorted with single and two-family homes and apartment buildings built
in the early 1920s and 1930s. A mix of African Americans, Caribbean and Caribbean Americans has
settled here.
St. Albans main shopping area is on Linden Boulevard which stretches from Brooklyn to Queens. It
provides a smaller version to the Jamaica Avenue and Queens Boulevard shopping experience.
St. Albans is located in a two-fare zone, which requires you to take a bus to the train, but it does have
the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) station near the Belt Parkway and Cross Island Parkway. The Q4 and Q9
run through St. Albans.
There are many schools in this community: I.S. 192 The Linden School, P.S. 136 Roy Wilkins School,
P.S. 233, P.S. 36 St. Albans School and Pathways College Preparatory School. There are also Private
Schools: St. Albans Christian Academy, St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic School and True Deliverance
Christian School.
There are many famous residents from St. Albans such as jazz pianist Count Basie, Musician James
Brown, Actress Lena Horne and Baseball legend Babe Ruth.
