This stuff seems to run in packs.  And out of the blue on Easter Sunday Morning, I find spam in my basket.  A basket full, in diffferent accounts, at that.  Including these two from "acquaintances," which makes me linger for a nanosecond longer.

The FBI has a tasty little attachment for me, zipped, even, but I think I will pass.  If it had been signed by J Edgar himself?  Still pass... :

Classified Email From The Federal Bureau Of Investigation. Read Secured Attach File For Further Instruction Regarding Your Fund

 Oh, yeah.  I'm sure there is something in there about my "fund(s)."

A friend is in the UK, and needs me to wire money.  Actually, I am fortunate that I had never received this classic before today:

"Hi,

Hope you get this on time,sorry I didn't inform you about my trip in United Kingdom for Easter Vacation, I'm presently in now and am having some difficulties here because i lost my small bag, right now i don't have anything with me,all cash,credit card and cell phone are gone on my way to the hotel where i stay,I want  you to assist me with a loan to sort-out my hotel bills and  to get myself back home.

I have spoken to the embassy here but they are not responding to the matter effectively,I will appreciate whatever you can afford to assist me with,I'll Refund the money back to you as soon as i return, let me know if you can be of any help. I don't have a phone where i can be reached. Please let me know immediately.i can send you the info for the wire of the money to save me from the embarrassment of not being able to cover the bills asap.

I'm freaked out at the moment.

Well, I'm not freaked out.  No wired cash going out from Cary on this one.

And I see more and more opportunities to help various suffering fellers with high-falutin' titles and little command of English free up their millions if I will only free up my meager account to their clutches.
That is not as engaging as the emails, spoofed of course, that come in with acquaintances listed as the sender.

Isn't THAT a fact.  If we quit falling for Spam, we will have less of it.

But, I think the real end game with the more dangerous stuff is the likelihood that the spammer is really an ID thief.

Mike - It's amazing what these hackers can do. I am been fortunate but some friends have not. Good thing you are aware and cognizant of something that looks awry.

I got the FBI letter sometime this weekend... or an FBI letter.

I have never personally got the one to wire funds.  One of my friends got it last week. I have heard of it for years, I think it is just freaky none of my friends emails have ever sent it... or perhaps I have but it was buried in a spam filter.
