The Spring Market is alive and well in Northern Virginia! How do I know this? It certainly isn't from the reports I hear daily on my local news, I know it because my favorite pants are getting snug and my blog has been neglected!
In theory, those things that are important to our well being (such as exercise and marketing) should NEVER be neglected. People will tell you that you can always find the time for things that are a priority. Well, when the Spring Real Estate market kicks in, I beg to differ.
I am a life-long exerciser. I was a swim team kid who started running when I was 15--and never stopped. I try to work out every day and that generally results in 4 or 5 days a week (and some weeks I fit in my daily workout). There are only two things that get in the way of this: medical concerns (surgery, childbirth, the flu) and real estate.
When I am busy with real estate, I literally put in days that begin at 6:00 a.m. and end when I turn off my computer and head up for the night. My phone rings all day, I get text messages, emails and voice messages continuously until even the most bold find it too embarrassingly late (and then I only get emails). I have found that the auto on and off function of my Blackberry keeps me from being awakened by a ridiculously late text message (If you don't use this function, I highly recommend it!).
I can't give up eating (although, it happens). I still have my family and they demand, and deserve, a certain amount of attention. Ditto for the dog. Sometimes you just have no choice but to stop and get gas in your car. There are certain things that MUST happen.
The truth is, the world will still spin if I miss a day of exercise, or my blog doesn't get updated daily. It might not spin as smoothly or with quite as much balance--at least for me--but it will continue spinning.
So the next time that someone asks you, 'how is the real estate market?' Give a quick thought to how well you are currently staying on top of those tasks that are a priority, but not an absolute necessity. I bet that you will find they give a more honest gauge of the market than any stinkin' report ever could!
