While something is directed at you and you look at it as an attack and sure it feels like a sting with words, remember for the OTHER person they are often dealing with unresolved issues but the pain comes out directed at the other person. So easier said than done try to let the sting pass you by. And don't add fuel to the fire in stinging back.

Lou - The sentence, "We can't win an argument in negotiations," is very powerful.  I often think folks take far too adversarial a stance in negotiations, when cooperation would get both parties so much more.

Sometimes others are projecting something totally unrelated into the situation.  Sometimes it is best to take a minute and step back and shake it off realizing that it might not even be directed at you.
