Today I found out that a business acquaintance that I highly respected died as result of injuries sustained in a car accident that occurred here in Colorado Springs. It was an accident that was 100% avoidable. Although no alcohol was involved, he made a serious, stupid decision that cost him his life. Fortunately, no innocent bystanders were hurt.
I do pray that some good will come from his death somehow. He suffered a great deal of physical pain while waiting for fire fighters to remove him from his car. Parts of the recovery efforts were televised - for better or worse. It took a long time and he was conscious. The footage was shown in an attempt to "de-glamorize" the dangerous way that he was driving.
He will be greatly missed both professionally and by his numerous friends and family. He has left a void.
The tragedy made me think.
• The importance of using always using good judgment. For Realtor's, our greatest temptations when driving most likely comes from being distracted while talking on the cell phone, texting (surely no one would be tempted to do that....) or speeding.
• What will be your legacy?
