HOAs and Solar Panels: What is the Buzz in Your Area?

We posted a little article on our blog tonight about HOA rules in Austin - something we're all pretty familiar with here.

One line-item that made the list of energy-saving approaches to green-living that frequently run afoul of HOA rules is the use of solar panels.

An Ausitn homeowner tangled recently with his HOA about the solar panels on his roof, and two bills have been introduced in Texas that would prevent HOAs from barring homeowners from installing solar panels as long as they meet certain criteria.

I am wondering what you think about this - HOA restrictions on eco-friendly systems like solar panels, rain water barrels or drought-tolerant plants instead of grass in the front yard.

Are you seeing squablles in your area? Would you like to see the rules changed? Are you actually seeing rules being changed?

Do tell all.

Great Food for thought.  I went right ahead a reblogged this posting.  Thanks for the opportunity.
