Jailbreak Austin Texas in 10 days! Yes I'm still questing.....

I started working on getting myself ready last Saturday. I know, I know, two weeks is not enough time to get in shape for a 3.5 mile, uphill run with 16 obstacles. But I'm going to do it anyway!

I'll be climbing up towers, sliding down mud slides, trudging through water crossings, climbing up hay mountains, avoiding water cannons, crawling underneath barbed wire, all the while being chased by the local Sheriff. Doesn't that sound like fun?

It's being run at a Reveille Peak Ranch and there will be beer, bbq and music at the end of the race. It will be an incredible day of family fun and sun!

So on to the conditioning. This past Saturday Isabelle and I did our 4 mile loop at Town Lake to kick things off. It was mostly whining and complaining, but Isabelle and I suffered through the pain and we finished strong. Sunday I ran the 4 mile loop again, but this time by myself. I ran much faster and it was painful! I didn't puke, but I felt like it. Monday evening I took an easier route and ran 4 miles on the treadmill, in the air conditioning. I think I'm taking today off to give my legs a little rest. However I'll be back at it Wednesday.

So here we go. Will I get in good enough shape to survive, much less do well? We shall see. But I can promise you this, I am going to work my buns off the next 10 days, and then let the chips fall where they may.

Please stay tuned, as I will be updating the blog with my progress every couple of days. And then of course, a follow up after the race. That is if I live through it!

Thank you for following my quest! Phillip

By the way, I realize I never wrote a follow up for the Cap 10K. Coming soon......
