How long does it take to get AR referrals

When I joined Active Rain a few weeks ago, I could see it was a great place and immediately saw its' potential. So of course I joined and started commenting and blogging. I saw several people taking about the business they got the AR, and all of its' benefits. I knew it was a matter of time, a few days, weeks, or months. But I knew eventually, I would get SOMETHING from AR. I wondered how long it would take. I now know the answer. Sure enough, now, less than six weeks since I started, I have my first business that I can directly attribute to AR. Considering it only took punching a few keyboard letters (OK quite a few) but still, just that and a little time & effort, and what do you know, it turns into an assignment. Well worth it, plus I've learned so much other stuff here, it is just phenomenal!! Thanks everyone that I've commented on, ask questions, and that have commented on my blogs! I've learned lots, but I still have lots to learn here, and I am eager to continue. . .

BTW, I just got a tip today to help improve my blog's readability, so look for some changes to come, I didn't quite know where to get things going on the suggestion, so I got to do some research on that as well. Now just guess where I will start my search. . . . .

8 months and 2 referrals so far. I took 4 months to actually run into something that turned into something.

Ronald,

Some members get direct referrals pretty soon from AR and some have to wait a while. You also get indirect results from here as AR gives SEO boost to your other website if you have one. So, the benefits can come from many directions.

Jason, that seems long but remember this, without AR, you would have two less without AR!! And like Esko said, you may have had some indirect business that you cannot 'see' like being high on Google search because of AR and then making that sale. That would really be because of AR, but you might attribute the sale to Google. Plus, hopefully like me, you have learned LOTS, and what is that worth?!?!? Esko, I must say, I realized that, that's why I said direct. I can't agree more, there can be so many indirect ways, that I and we will never know! LaShon, I also can't agree more, although I expected it, just didn't know the WHEN!!! Now I know :-) BTW, either is quite alright! Bob, I still do not remember what search I did, but I was intrigued, and quite quickly realize it could only benefit me, otherwise I wouldn't have joined or have taken the time over the last few weeks. Thanks!!

Hi Ronald-we just got a lead yesterday....the caller said you must work hard if you are on top on activerain. Take those words serious....we have had so many leads. My first came.....about 8 months ago....

Ron I really didn't consider 4 months to be a long time. In that 4 months I was learning the system, learning how the blogs actually work, learning about SEO. I was really surprised at the 4 month mark to have gotten a call from a guy halfway across the US looking to relocate to this area. The first thing he said was "I was looking around ActiveRain.com and it looks like you are the only real estate agent in that area" Truth be told there are several thousand of us but I was the only one on AR at the time. I've had one more since then and just consider them "gravy" above and beyond what I would have had.

It took me about 7 weeks to get my first referral and I've really just scratched the surface as far as potential goes.
