Effectiveness of a Testimonials Page

If you have a website and sell a product, whether it be west michigan real estate or cd players, a testimonials page can hugely benefit your website.

Before you build a testimonials page, you need satisfied clients. You can only satisfy clients by doing a great job with your service. This article is going to assume that you have satisfied clients.

So how do you build an effective testimonials page? What are the latest techniques to make this page effective?

Originally, webmasters just had plain text on their testimonials page. This is the least effective method. Anybody can write text on a webpage and say it is a testimonial. How do people know it is coming from a real person?

To solve this problem, webmasters starting putting names under the testimonials. This is a little better but not much. In my opinion, you need to go the extra step to make a testimonials page effective.

Some webmasters even put a contact email address for the person giving the testimonial. However, not all clients like this information to be given out. So if you happen to do this, make sure you get permission.

So what if you provide photos next to every testimonial. People love seeing a photo associated with a testimonial. It makes the testimonial seem much more effective. A good example of this is the following webpage:

http://www.lukebouman.com/testimonials.cfm

People like to see a lot of testimonials. This particular webpage has testimonials split up into three different pages. Multi-page testimonials can also increase the effectiveness.

This webpage is very nice, but could the effectiveness of the testimonial page be increased even further?

In recent years, webmasters have been recording the voice of the person giving the testimonial. The combination of text, photos, and sound really make a great testimonials page.

So what should we expect in the future? What will webmasters do years down the road for a testimonial page?

Well, have you ever considered making a video testimonial section? You see this a lot on television commercials with people giving testimonials about a product or service. Would this be effective for a testimonials page on the internet. This webmaster thinks it would be.

A testimonials page can be really effective is used properly. It can also be devastating for a website if not done properly.

Good luck on your websites!

Bingo, I have seen this done by fellow Active Rainer Cyndee Hayden of Florida and I love it.  Now if I can just get a client to sit for a vid.

I've only recently started hi-lighting my testimonials page just a bit more. What I'm going to do now is a voicemail recording of some clients testimonials and I should really get some pictures up also.

Thanks for the reminder!

I like the home picture next to the testimonial idea.  I'm working on my online testimonial page.  A list of references just doesn't cut it anymore!
