Don't Take Referrals For Granted.....Work Them Harder
"We All Love Referrals" is the point Karen Fiddler makes in this blog. I reblogged it to get more exposure to this particular blog, because this is a really important subject.
I love referrals and i try REALLY HARD to take super care of the buyers (all my clients are buyers) so the buyers AND the referring party are BOTH happy with my service.
But I know what she refers to in her post. Makes ya' wonder sometimes.
We all love referrals! From past clients, from friends and from other agents. It's a huge compliment. And one we should take very seriously! So I'm always surprised when I hear about them being taken for granted.
This week I received 2 referrals from agents here on Active Rain....thank you guys!
These are always my top priority! I call and/or email them immediately. Not necessarily because I believe they might disappear if I call later....but because I feel I owe it to the referring agent to treat these prospects as special.
I've been on the referring end and disappointed with the response some of my referrals have gotten. One "agent" actually waited 2 days before calling a referral I sent them. When I found out and asked why, they did apologize but said they "assumed that I had already talked to them and that they were committed to working with them already." Well.....maybe but what does that have to do with YOUR professionalism?
Nothing!
When I get a referral I treat them like gold. Because that's what they are! And far from being "sure things" they have already been handed off....so to speak. To someone they don't know and didn't call themselves. I need to prove myself to them even more....and live up to the trust the referring agent placed in me.
I will never understand the agent that doesn't jump on a referral lead! But if you're going to take them for granted, then please send them to me! I'll handle it right now!
