How much land is too much Maine land?

Not 400 acres in my opinion. The valuable 245 acres of mixed woods only goes up in value. And slowly you harvest the marketable timber which makes it like "tree farming". The family that owns this New Limerick Maine farm has owned it for many many years. At one time making a good living with Maine potatoes, grains and dairy farming being done on in the fields, pastures. There is a six acre pond and valuable gravel deposits. The entire Aroostook County land available for $275,000.

I know I know, to someone out of state they are hitting the computer monitors, shaking the Droid or wiggling the laptop thinking that must be a mistake, misprint.

The price is right Bob, Tom, Dick and Harry. You're in Maine, get more for less. Wake up and start your dream.

Andy...

This sounds like an excellent bargain. I think that I might retire to your area!

What a great opportunity for the right person who wants to start their own little homestead.  I bet there's even an old apple orchard in there somewhere.

Richard ... The older our real estate buyers get the more we here the relocating ones give us three reasons they move here. Way way lower prices, getting more property for less. Second reason just wanting to be left alone and not bother anyone, or have anyone bother them. And the way of life with the 4th lowest crime, friendlier people, old fashion values and respect.

Georgina ... Have a guy from Ohio that grows purple peppers that I think it would be great for. Or red deer farming. Or Christmas trees. Does not have to just be potatoes, broccoli, grains, dairy, beef  like many local farms. Vegetable truck farming another great option.

Hello Andrew - WOW, that's a lot of dirt!  I believe that, to many, owning land is still an American dream.  I have sold homes on small pieces of land, 5 - 10 acres, to people who were from other countries.  They were excited to get even that small amount of land.  How cool would it be to own part of a mountain...just thinking...

Barbara ... We hear that from English buyers too. They look at the acre surrounding a home and shake their heads side to side. It is so crowded in London for example that that lawn could feed 13 people for a year if planted, tended correctly. Glad I grew up on a Maine farm, can always feed my family and others if it ever came to that where local food was all you had.

Andrew, those are some great pictures. I can't believe land is that inexpensive up there.
