Okay that might be a stretch but if you want me to put flyers in a box outside on a post, well it's not going to happen. One of the reason is that my custom yard signs eliminate the need for a flyer box. So what about inside the house? What do you need for a buyer to walk away with?
To be honest I'm torn. When an agent arrives at the home with a buyer they have already run the MLS sheet which has all of the important information on the property. In addition our MLS allows us to upload additional documentation such as signed property disclosures, floor plans, contract instructions, information on what conveys with the property and any other information pertinent to the home. So again what is it that a buyer needs?
How about a business card they can easily slip into their pocket which has the basic information about the home and a QR code that will take them to the property video?

Back of Property Card

The property cards are easy to make with Publisher and Avery business cards give you the template and size to print.
They may not work for everyone but if most of the information about your property is already on-line is printing a stack of flyers neccessary?

30 Comments on Flyers-We Don't Need No Stinking Flyers
Liz-with all that we can do on-line within our MLS I think flyers are becoming obselete quickly. Are we doing them for the buyers or for the owners?
Nancy-since I stopped using a flyer box years ago the only place I have put flyers is inside the home. Now I don't even think those are necessary now either.
Fred-yes Nancy had a great idea for making a sign more relevant.
Kathy-one of the reasons I eliminated a flyer box was the neighborhood kids were the ones always taking them and scattering them around the neighborhoods.
Cindy......great post.....I feel the same way. Nice job!
Hope you have a great day!!---Rob
I LIKE IT. Saves a ton of money of colored flyers and you show what a progressive listing agent you are.
Hi Cindy, now that is the best yard sign I've ever seen! Awesome! I do brochures and hand them out at my open houses. But, I like your idea too.
When you think outside the box it works. Unrepresented buyers remember that you gave them something that was easy to hold on to.
I think flyers do not help sell the property, they actually help folks eliminate the property. I would prefer a potential buyer call me or access the info through my website. Gives me a much better chance to sell the property.

Great idea Cindy ~ I love your yard signs and I think the busines card flyer is a great idea. QR code is an extra bonus!
Rob-looks like I missed a few comments when I posted this sorry.
Ellie-it's a simple and effective tool.
Jackie-I do have two sided brochures at my listing but there are times when the business cards are just as effective.
Pat-yes it is just another tool in my marketing arsenal.
Cal-this is why I'm not a fan of brochure boxes but of course my signs work to replace them.
Gwen-thanks for your comment and stopping by.
Cindy, what a great idea to add the QR code to your property business cards! I do think for those people who may not be smartphone-equipped, I would go ahead and add the property URL, too. I have subdomains for mine (such as barton.souzarealty.com) to make it easier to type in. :)
Cindy, great idea. I dislike priting and filling boxes and can't track business to them. At least with a QR code or text code you know when someone is looking and never have to worry about running out of flyers.
Leilani-most of my listings have their own URL which is the address of the property.
Scott-I think flyer boxes are an invitation for trouble. With my custom signs no need for a flyer box as the basic information and property photos are front and center.
