Photo Essay: Life on a Farm

By
Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty, LLC

I realize that most people would not be comfortable living on a farm or ranch.   In this photo-blog, I thought I'd share some spring pictures of life on a farm.  These pictures were taken at Carol Watt's house, where she lives off the grid at the Royal Gorge Canyon.  It is Colorado's version of the Grand Canyon.  Carol and her husband give the people the opportunity to tour the area on mules.  Her house may not have electricity, running water, or indoor plumbing.  Yet, they get so much pleasure from their animals.

One of Two "Barn Cats"

One of two resident cats.

A fat pony

A fat pony....just what every little kid needs.  Actually this one was a large miniature horse.

Carole holding the goose

Even the geese liked to be held and carried around.   This particular goose was really spoiled.

Curious Goats

And, then there were the goats.... They were very curious.  It was hard to photograph them because they kept wanting to walk up closer.

Even the Longhorn is Loved

Even the Longhorn was Loved!  Granted, it is very uncommon to see a longhorn saddled and ridden.  This steer is a big pet.

So...in conclusion.  I hope you enjoyed the pictures.  If you would like to purchase land for your own farm or ranch, don't hesitate to give me a call.

If you get the opportunity to visit the Royal Gorge Canyon, which is just outside of Colorado Springs....be sure to make plans to see it on the back of a mule.   "You can always see what man made from the seat of your car.  But you can only see what God made from the back of your mule."  Reservations can be made by calling Carole at the Watt Mule Company: 620-855-0236.

This post has a picture of the Royal Gorge:

My wife would love to have a small farm.  I am more of a city person.

I grew up in South Texas where there are more animals than there are people. That’s where my love of animals comes from.

Lovely animal photos and hugging the Longhorn too Sondra. I didn't know Longhorns were allowed through Colorado customs imported up from Texas LOL. Carol's place looks enjoyable for her family and your photos did give a feel for what living with such a variety of animals on a farm or ranch all around you is like. So much different from suburbia and the city type living. Those little miniature horses are super great for the kids.

Your picture of the goose made me want to go feed the geese at Lake Murray, so that’s where I spent an hour yesterday.

Sondra, THIS is what I'm always talkin' about--and you know that!  Just lovin' the creatures of the world, getting great snapshots and showing a different side to life...slower paced.

Roy (above)...LOVE Longwood Gardens--incredible place and great photo ops! I used to live in PA, also enjoy the history of Longwood Gardens, being the Dupont Summer Estate, wayyy way back...didn't they donate it to the state?

Brings back good memories as I was raised on a farm in my younger years.  I am more comfortable in the country and love the ranches and farms.  Thank for the photos and memories.
