My wifes family lives in the Philippines and 4 years ago adopted twins that had been abandoned by the parents. Well now that they are getting to be older they are getting into more trouble and my in laws are in their 50's. Not expecting to take on this burden but obligated because it was a relative that abandoned them;they are now having a hard time keeping up. In talking to them last night I asked if I could hire a babysitter to take some of the burden off of them. after much conversation--over an hour they agreed. My new word for the day is YAYA.
It is their term for a live in Nanny. 2200 pesos--or about $50 a month and now life is semi back to normal for them and I can rest easier knowing their stress level is down. It is amazing to me how little it costs me to have such a big impact on their lives.
