Gettysburg Pa takes a Hike

Loyalty Walk Gettysburg PaThis morning I set out at a brisk 6:00am to help co-ordinate an annual event for the Rick & Sally Myers Animal Shelter of Gettysburg Adams County Pa. Each year at this time the shelter puts on their "Loyalty Walk" event. Historic Gettysburg Pa comes alive with activity during the spring and summer months, and the Loyalty Walk has become a fund raising staple for the shelter.

Loyalty Walk Gettysburg PaThe walk starts at 9:00am and travels through the beautiful rolling hills of the historic Gettysburg Battlefield. Todays walk was a wonderful time, the recent and huge amounts of rain that Gettysburg  has been experiencing has the Gettysburg Battlefield looking a lush green. The creeks are full and the sound of babbling brooks was in our ears the whole walk. A wonderful time was had by all, including our distinguished guest volunteer State Rep. Dan Moul. Dan has become not only a  personal friend, but a freind to the shelter as well, and when I asked if he would help us out, he jumped at the chance. He was very impressed with the event and especially the turnout. Thanks Dan, it was a pleasure just hanging out, two regular community members, helping out.

Loyalty Walk Gettysburg PaThe Rick & Sally Myers Animal Shelter operates on a 92% donation basis, without the generous support of the residents of Gettysburg we simply would not be able to keep the doors open. This years event appears to have raised a record amount, excellent, and a sincere THANK YOU to the people of Gettysburg Pa.

Next year come on out and join Gettysburg Gerry for our annual Loyalty Walk. In fact why not head on over to your local animal shelter and make a donation in the name of Gettysburg Gerry.
