Moms and Dad's,
A Little Something to Think About
Right Before Mother's & Father's Day

Well, since I reblogged that tutorial on how to create a picnik.com collage written by Kathy Neilson, I have been wanting to create a collage.  I thought Mother's day would be the perfect holiday to try this out.

This first collage was supposed to be a collage of each of my generations.  My Grand~Mother & I, My Mother & I,  My son & daughter and I, then My Grand~Daughter & I.  Here's where the "Little something to think about" comes in.  I do not have one single photo of my mom & I.  Sure, she passed away, but she was 50 when she died.  I should have at least one photo with her right?  Well, you would think so!  But I don't.  Now I have to admit,... I hate photo's of myself.  Further more, I am usually the one holding the camera.  So there are not a lot of photo's of myself and my children.  That has got to change!  So,... today I take the first step towards that change!

The second collage is for my Destiny!

I hate a lot of these photo's.  All I see are my flaws.  My crazy wild hair, my acne scars, how fat I was throughout her life,...etc,. etc,. etc,.!

But,... that is not what Destiny will see.

Destiny will see that I was always there for her.  She will see that I let her have purple hair.  She will see that I let her sit up high on scaffolding and work with me.  She will be reminded of our favorite trips all over the country (especially our favorite ~ San Diego).  Destiny will be reminded of the life we had and the love we shared.

So,... fat or thin, brunette or blonde, strait hair or curley, makeup or not,  and with all my imperfections and flaws I will make sure she and my children have photo's to  remember me by.

If you do not have enough photo's  of you and your loved ones to at the very least make a collage,.. now is the best time to start!

Don't forget;
Mother's Day is next Sunday May 8th
and
Father's Day is Sunday June 19th.

Laura these are all loved-filled photos!  I love this idea.  And we all have a little more or less fat on us but who cares!  Gives another reason to join the group Take it Off in the Rain - and meet more nice folks!  (yes I just joined!).  I willl have to study how to do this....I'm guessing it's not too hard - right?

Laura - So true!  We make a point of taking pics at all of the family gatherings for that reason.  Granted, most are of the kids, but we get everyone else in there too.  Your pics with your kids will be treasured for years to come....don't be shy about taking them together, insecurities and all!

Beautifully done Laura. Your mom and your little one don't care about any imperfections. All they care about is your love. Which you've clearly shown here.

Sad that you don't have a picture with your Mom, but you have made up for it by making sure your kids don't miss out.  Hopefully they will continue the tradition.

Gracious, I go for a little walk, watch a little hockey and miss all the fun!  Ha ha ha!

Thank you Kristin!  I have no doubt it will be a very good one (as long as it's not as windy as today).

Hey Michelle, I am so glad you liked it!  Thank you and I hope you have a great Mother's day as well.

Don, what was I thinking?  Hope she has fun with it.  Here's a link to the post that I learned how to make these great collages;

How to Create a Collage Using Picnik

Oh Kristine, my beautiful friend!  I am actually not all that hard on myself.  I am actually really okay with the person I've become.  Except when I am at a very dressy event and I find a hair on my chin when I'm in the restroom!  Ha ha ha.  Where do those things come from?  Glad you like the collages.  Destiny will be tickled with hers.  I'm giving it to her framed on Mother's day.  :)D

Juli, you are such a sweetie!  Thank you.  I really wrote this post to encourage others to have more photo's taken with their family.  No one should be without pictures of those they love.

Virginia, beautiful Virginia!  Now that is a great idea!.  I am going to do that as soon as I finish these comments!  Thank you.

Thank you Charles.  I do hope at least one mom or dad decides to get "into" more photo's from this.

Laura G. (that used to be my name:) it really is hard to be consistent with taking photo's.  I know I certainly have many gaps in mine.  But,... today is the best place to start!  I hope you have a beautiful Mother's day.  Is it nice enough for you guys to wear shorts and flip flops yet?

Oh Bridget, that was absolutely beautiful!  Nice job getting him into the photo's.  Your children will be very grateful one day for that.

Hello Anna!  I am so glad you decided to join us!  YEAH!!!  Roger's group is amazing and witty and full of support (not to mention a few butt whippin's once in a while, which I have needed).  It is actually REALLY easy to make these collages.  I posted a link in comment #17, can't believe I forgot to do that when I first created this post!  Have fun with it and if you get stuck give me a call.

Tammy, all those little insecurities seem so insegnificent in the grand scheme of things.  Photo's are treasures!

Thank you Anna, I have no doubt yours are filled with love!  By the way, that really was a funny video on your blog post!

Susan, we really are our own worst cridicts, but that is what drives us to do and become better.  Not all bad!  I am glad you liked these collages.

Thank you Craig, that was very sweet.  I do want my children to have photo's of me with them.  I am hoping someday I will find just one of myself with my mom in someone's pile of photo's.  Make sure you take plenty with your little one!  Even if she fusses about it and tells you you are not cool!  LOL

Twenty two minutes long?  Wow Amy, now that is a lot of photo's!  Well done.  Watching them with your family I bet that 22 minutes brings back many years of wonderful memories.  You are so amazing.

Jane, my daughter is an amazing photographer.  She has the most magnificent shots from Phoenix and San Diego area (she lives out there).  She is the one who set up our family photo's last November.  My son is very camera shy, but getting better.  Hopefully, in some pile in some family members photo's there is one or two of myself and my mom, but if not,... well I do have all my memories.  Those can't be lost.

I am so sorry you don't have one picture with your mom.  The closest I can come to that is when we realized that there wasn't one photo of my daughter and I together on her wedding day.  There are group shots, but none of just us two.  I was pretty disappointed, but your situation is much sadder  I love your collages...your little Destiny is a very lucky girl!

Sharon, thank you.  I am sure somewhere there must be just one photo of my mom and I in some family members old stack of photo's, but I haven't found one yet.  It's sad, but it is also a good lesson for all the mom's and dad's out there now not wanting their photo taken.  It's not really for us.  It's for those who love us.

Laura, A local shop does fingerprint impressions that she turns to charms for mom's bracelet. I took my girls down there and had it done.  Thanks for the Mothers day reminder.

Peter, that is really a cool idea!  I would love something like that.  By the way, you are welcome.  Don't want anyone in the dog house for missing mother's day.  You know it was set up purposely that Father's day follows Mother's day.  LOL!

Shar you always make me laugh!  I do indeed follow instructions well.  It was really surprisingly easy to do.  And fun!  You know if I don't ever find a photo out there somewhere of my mom and I, at least I have my memories.  Those don't just dissappear.
