I have been working in the sales and real estate industry for quite some time. I truly thought it would be easy to find a fit for me...and the style of business I like to do. My long distance move means I need to leave the broker I really like.
Not So!
If you are any good at what you do it is easy to find any number of companies that want you to come to work with them. They really do not interview you...you interview them. I have received quite a few offers...and each managing broker has a style they like to employ to get me to come to work.
Here are some of the things I am looking for:
1. A full service brokerage with a great Internet presence (I tend to lean to Prudential and Coldwell Banker because they have everything online that can make my business easier to run).
2. A non-competing broker (Indeed if you are at a full service broker you will find a competing broker will end up with the best generated leads and relocation...this can hurt you when you first start out).
3. Training (yes...I have lots of experience...yes I am always looking to learn more!!!!)
4. An office with decent parking (silly...but this can be a big issue).
5. An office I am proud to have my clients visit.
6. An office that carries a good number of listings (at the start I like to do open houses to both pick up clients and to learn neighborhoods and floorplans).
7. A top reputation (this should be number one on the list).
8. Neighborhood involvement (I like a brokerage that is a partner with the local community).
9. A company that gives back (from building Habitat for Humanity houses to volunteering...this is important to me).
I promise you it is hard to find a company that fits all my criteria...but maybe I can help them achieve some of these goals once I arrive :)
