Reading Loreena Yeo's post she wrote this morning titled Simple made me think of all the short-sale listings out there with families in financial distress. Now, more than ever, people need to know how to save money for a "rainy day". I suppose many adults today grew up in a home that lived paycheck to paycheck, and that may have worked for their parents. But, we are living in different times where one may have a job loss, medical emergency, or other unexpected event that requires one to rely on their savings account for six months, nine months, or longer!
I was blessed with parents that taught me how to spend wisely and save for the unexpected. They also lived a life of gratefulness to God and generosity towards others. I am SO thankful for their example!
Perhaps, you did not have that situation growing up, but you have a mentor who could give you financial counsel...someone at your church or a friend at work.
