March 2011 Home Sales Trends - East Baton Rouge Parish

March 2011 home sales trends are out for East Baton Rouge Parish and it was an OK month.

There were 289 homes sold in March 2011 as compared with 324 homes sold in March 2010.  The average sales price was $209,000 and 181 of the 289 homes sold had a sales price of less than $199,999.  There have been 711 homes sold year to date in 2011 versus 739 sold during the same time period in 2010.

There are 2,600 homes for sale in East Baton Rouge Parish which equates to about a 9 month supply.  Since a 6 month supply is generally considered a healthy supply of homes, we have some excess inventory that we need to work through.
