LOOK AT WHAT A PERSON CAN DISPOSE AT THE LOUDOUN COUNTY LANDFILL IN LEESBURG VIRGINIA FOR $5.00.
- Municipal Solid Waste (Household Garbage)
- Commercial Waste
- Construction and Demolition Waste (delivered in vehicle with one rear axle)
- Propane Tanks
- Scrap Metal
- Tires
- Vegetative Waste
That list covers my household trash, old furniture, garage clean-up and recycling bottles, cans, paper including office paper waste.
I LOVE THIS PLACE. It's right in Leesburg about 5 minutes from my gym in Leesburg and the Dulles Areas Association of Realtors where I take a class about one every week or two. So, it's not a special drive. At $4.00 a gallon, we are combining trips aren't we?
First, if you have any old paint, old batteries, other "non-trash" material for recycling, this is the place. Just drive in and put inthe appropriate recycle bin.
The recycle area is free.

This is also the area for recycling paper products (old files), newspaper, office paper waste, etc. This is also where the bins for "bottles and cans" go.

NEXT STOP? The weigh in booth and, depending on what you're dropping off, direction to appropriate area.
THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT. Just drive in on the right, your vehicle will be weighed and you'll be pointed to the trash dumpsters appropriate for your items for that day.

Household trash will go to dumpsters where you can dump any manner of refuse, old furniture, household trash, etc.
Next stop, the weigh out. I've never been charged more than $5.00 and that can be fore a 4Runner full of yard refuse, household trash, old deck furniture, etc. Best buy in town.

Hello Lenn:
One man's trash is another man's treasure, or something like that. You get the gold star of the night for making the recycling center a great blog post.
Hi Lenn ...What a great value !!! and a great Localism !!! Thank you
I love taking stuff to recycling.... I also give away stuff to a church that does a giant garage sell for any old furniture I may have.
Hi Lenn - I can't believe they only charge for $5 dollars. What a bargain.
Brian. I love gold stars. This is the type of community content that I believe should get a gold star now and then.
Robert. When you live in the stick with no municipal trash collection, the county dump areas are critical.
Sussie. So do I. Good habits.
Brava for promoting a Local Recycling center!! Too often we just "dump" without recycling.
Lenn, It makes all the difference when the municipality makes it easy for people to do the right thing. This is a great set up. Now i need to discuss with my town, some ways to be more like this.
Lenn, your Recycling Center in Loudon County is awesome! What an excellent perk for residents!
I used to think only about the product itself which was able to be recycled. Now the understanding of the energy saved by recycling many of our common consumables makes this so much more appropriate. Looks like a well designed and managed facility Lenn.
Wow what a great service! Wish we had something that close to us. The facility looks great and consumer friendly! Way to go Loudon County!
Wish we had something like that here. I just took a load to the dump. They had a whole list of things I couldn't dump there. I would have to take those to another dump about 15 miles away. Then they charge me $17 for a small truck load.
Holy Cow Lenn..not here in Madison Wisconsin. Lots of stuff they will not take or $20 for all sorts of things to recycle
Kudos to you for being another who spreads the word about recycling! You not only get to scrape a few dollars you get to save nature and clean up the community too (not to mention your house too!)
