My first post to the 31 days of May challenge

This post will no doubt be lacking in quality and short because I'm posting this from my Droid...there is no power here in northern Alabama due to storms and tornadoes that rolled through last Wednesday.

I thought that I would write briefly about the great job the police, utility companies and clean up and rescue crews are doing.  I also need to give kudos to the salvation army and volunteers making life a little easier for those affected by the recent storms.  This has been quite an eye opening experience...everything can be taken away in the blink of an eye.  I lost a few shingles on my home, but two blocks away families lost their home.

I just wanted to call attention to the fact that amidst all the destruction people are out helping others...neighbors helping neighbors and trying to get back to some kind of normalcy.  I don't know if this post will qualify as challenge entry, but thought I'd at least thank the people of Alabama for their efforts of working togetber.  I also send out well wishes to those south of me in Birmingham and Tuscaloosa who were also hit hard.

What a devastation so many are suffering in your area and neighboring states where the tornado's hit so furiously.  The pictures and interviews on TV are not imaginable and so, so sad what has happened.  And than there are so many wonderful stories as well as to the goodness of people helping people.

Glad you escaped with only a small amount of damage and stay safe.  I can only speculate on how the situation has to impact many business's including real estate?

Nick - it certainly qualifies in my mind ..... our thoughts are certainly with those who live in the affected areas and those who are stepping up to the plate locally to help out.

Nick - So sorry for all the suffering going on in your state.  Your post should definitely qualify because, honestly, being able to type on a that tiny Droid keypad deserves a point!

Nick thank you for keeping us up to date on what is going on down there.  It is good to hear that people are helping one another unlike what has happened during other tragedies where lutting seems to be the standard.

We tried to call my wife's 94 year old Aunt in Aniston, to find out how she was, but she must be without power, because we could not get an answer.  We were able to get a hold of another family member that has heard from her and she is OK.

Hope things get restored back to normal down there real soon.

Gald to hear that the police and rescue teams are top of it down there in AL.  If you know of a church or another LOCAL charity that is helping victims with clothing and household items, let me know.  Would be happy to clean out the closets and ship it down.
