Last Week’s Productivity Buster: The Royal Wedding!
I’m not seeing too many blogs here on Active Rain about last week’s big event – you know, The Wedding of the Century. William and Kate! And it sort of surprises me.
Why
Because so many of the Realtors I know here in DC (yes, even moi) took most the day off, glued to BBC-America. We watched the guests and then the groom and bride (and the famous dress) arrive at Westminster Abbey. Then there was the ceremony itself, steeped in tradition, with music that was as heavenly as the children singing it.
Even at my old age, I still believe in fairy tales, partly because I’m sort of living one of my own. But that’s for another blog post. This one is about the beautiful young woman who rode into Westminster Abbey as a commoner and rode out in a magical carriage as the bride of Prince William, and a likely future queen of England.
Sure, we were watching flash backs of another wedding thirty some years ago – that of William’s parents, and we all know how that turned out. But still, I am happy and optimistic for William and his new princess.
As I sat in front of the television, I couldn’t blog or work on a CMA due later in the day or break to make calls to people I really needed to talk to. And I had to wonder. What is this thing we have for the royal family, anyway?
Maybe it’s just that we don’t have a royal family, thanks to the wisdom of our founding fathers. And even White House weddings, our closest thing, don’t come close for tradition and ceremony. Besides, there haven’t even been any for a long time.
And when I saw this scene watching the reruns last night, I thought about how much teasing this little flower girl will get throughout her life about this particular scene!
So here’s to you, William and Katherine, the new Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge. May you live long and prosper and have lots of children and be left in peace by the paparazzi!
