While buying a hybrid might sound like a great idea at first, for many of us, the hybrids and alt. fuel vehicles that exist in today's market just aren't practical.  Some companies are producing hybrid trucks, and larger SUV's, but the fact is - the hybrid technology in these vehicles is aimed as much at enhancing performance as it is at gaining fuel economy and lowering emissions.  The following website is the FDA's guide to the Hybrid Vehicles that currently exist.  http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/hybrid_sbs.shtml

The good news is, fully electric technology DOES exist.  There are vehicles that can go 400 to 500 miles on a single charge, and by using a solar panel to aid with that charge, your "fuel" can be FREE. This technology is not available in the Unitd States yet, but I predict it will be soon. Here's one example. http://www.teslamotors.com/  This technology is coming... and this car proves that the performance of cars that are 100% electric is every bit as good as the gas guzzlers we drive today.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/evtech.shtml This link is to the FDA's link on electric technology, and also includes more information on the technology.  It DOESN'T include information on the technologies that exist outside the US, however.

Interesting, Jonelle.  Are you a big car buff?  Your post reminded me of when I had a 4 wheel drive Suburu.  It was 4 cyl and when I wanted to go up a steep hill and engage the 4 wheel option, I would have to turn the AC off, and shift down to 3rd or 2nd gear.  I had the same problem with a Diesel VW Rabbit - great gas mileage but no power.  With the diesel, you would see a hill coming up and go as fast as you could downhill at 70mph in order to get to the top of the next hill at 35 mph.

Heres a great twist on that blog. And i dont know what your thoughts are on this but id like to know. Wouldnt it be nice to charge your car at your own home? Gives a new meaning to "can i get a jump" lol. 400-500 miles wow, think of what we could use the money from the savings of gas? Real Estate?
