What's better, urban living or country living? It's a hard question to answer, at least it is for me. I know for many, it's a slam dunk - they love one or the other. I have lived in cities and towns. Now I live in a village of 400 people, well, it's 400 in the summer. It's more like 250 during the winter. I love the amenities of a city, especially the restaurants. I love the sense of community in my village. I'm glad I've had the opportunity to experience both sides. I would not rule out living in a city again. However, I am happy in my village and I won't be moving anytime soon.
I have never enjoyed living in a place more than I did when I lived in NYC. That being said, I do enjoy the space and benefits of living in the country, and aspire to have a nice vegi garden some day, perhaps a few chickens :). Can we just say the ideal situation would be to split one's time between both!
Donna, having lived in both small towns and large cities (ranging from Gusselsdorf Austria pop 200, to NYC), I would have to say that I'm happiest living in a medium sized town like Trenton, about 16,000. there's enough here to do, yet I can drive for 5 minutes and feel like I'm in the middle of nowhere.
I agree, It's nice to live in a rural environment, but I like to have access to a larger city within a reasonable distance. Best of both worlds.
I love the fact my wife and I have had the pleasure of living in a rural area for the past 19 years. I work in the city and do the 25 mile each way commute, but it is worth it. At the end of the day, I get to go home to the quiet of the country.
