Oregon Garden Brewfest - People's Choice Award Winning Brews

The 7th Annual Oregon Garden Brewfest in Silverton was a big success with over 6,000 attendees.  This event is a fundraiser for the Oregon Garden that has grown year after year.

It's an annual tradition for my husband and I to volunteer our time pouring sample tastes of brews for the attendees.  We're always surrounded by good friends and family, working (and playing) throughout the venue.  Of course, we do get the opportunity to enjoy the festival after our shift to sample the wide range of brewer's hard work.

Insider tip for your Brewfest adventure is to include music & dancing at the Fireside Lounge and book a room (way in advance) at the Oregon Garden Resort.  Mark your calendar for next year!

This year brought over 40 brewers to the event as well as a huge tent and additional music stage to accommodate the growing crowd.   Out of all of the fine creations, here are the "People's Choice" award winners...

PEOPLE'S CHOICE

1st Place Award - Seven Brides Brewing out of Silverton with their Chocolate Stout

"Chocolate Stout - Ebony in color with a decadently creamy, mocha colored head.  Our special blend of dark roasted  malts and dark chocolate, married with Oregon grown cascade and nugget hops combine for a subtly sweet, hoppy and luxuious finish.  6.4 ABV, 35 IBU's, 75SRM"

2nd Place Award - Clapooia Brewing out of Albnay with their Chili Beer

"Chili Beer – Medium-bodied and amber in color; minimally hopped and generously flavored with fresh Anaheim, Serrano, and Jalapeno peppers. A truly unique beer!"

3rd Place Award - Flat Tail Brewing out of Corvallis with their Foreverinium

"Foreverinium - This Imperial IPA is brewed with a Belgain yeast strain and spiced with Lemongrass, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, and just a hint of Buddha's Hand and Chinese Gooseberries.  Hopped with over 2.5 pounds per barrel of Cascade, Amarillo, Chinook, and Zeus.  Brewed in honor of our brewing compatriots of the east coast, this may not be a new style, but it sure does taste good."

Congratulations to all of the brewers and to the Oregon Garden for an outrageously successful fundraiser.  Nice work!
