Mothers and babies from Searcy Arkansas. Now this is a really sweet blog!!

Friends forwarded this magnificent picture of mothers and babies.  They don't know, unless the Sleuths can find answers, who most of the folks are.

Searcy Ar mothers and babies

Identified on the back row from left are Florence and Lee Biggs, Freda and Burney Lightle, Rosamond and Joe Yingling, unidentified, and then Lucy and Mary Ann Morris.  In the middle of the front row Tom Headlee and his mother.

Interesting things are the shoe styles.  Three of the front moms have almost identical shoes. Also interesting is how healthy and hefty those babies were!  And how happy all the mothers appear.  Tell us who the others are if you know.

Donna, that is what we are wondering.  I like Charles's idea of baby boomers!

Charles, I'll bet you're right.  All those friends probably had babies at about the same time.  I know three of the babies who are alive and well right now in Searcy Arkansas!

Well, the boys say that this picture was taken on a Sunday morning or afternoon at church...Maybe they had a Sunday School contest?  Mother's Day Event?  Cutest Baby Contest?

Neat Picture...I like the hairdos.

Debbie, those are all good suggestions about the event with all these babies.  The mothers are all so happy looking!

Second from left, front row is Mrs. Frank Headlee, Jr. (can't think of her first name but it will come to me later)...she would be holding her son, Johnny Headlee.  Next to her MAY be Julia Martha Rand (Mrs. Kendell Rand), holding Julliane or Kenny....I KNOW the others but can't bring their names out of my brain YET.  I'm working on it.  LOVE the picture, of course.....and I recognized those you i.d. Barbara.

Love the spectator shoes on the ladies in the front row.  Back row probably wearing them, too, we just can't see their feet.

Tom Headlee

Hi Barbara and all.  Tom Headlee here.  Thank you for the comment about how pretty my mom was. Pat Headlee is correct.  That is me on her lap, not my brother, John.  We are second from the left, not center.  John was born in 1942 therefore too old for this pic. I was born Aug '46...so this looks like about '48 to me. I saw this photo for the first time on our  latest SHS class newsletter (Karen Davis editor).  My mom died a couple of years ago and is greatly missed.  The woman and child next to Mom and me on the far lower left of the pic is Nancy Davis, my mother's sister, and my cousin, Patsy.  They lived in Searcy briefly during this time period.  Cheers and love the blog...

Tom, thanks for the positive identification and for being such a beautiful baby.  The editor of the newsletter gave me permission to use the picture after my friend Sherry forwarded it to me.  I instantly fell in love with the picture.  It needs to be shared.  Join us on the blog and help us with some of Searcy's history.

Jordan (Lightle)

What a neat picture! My grandmother and father, Freda and Burney Lightle, are in this pic. I'm so surprised to see such a strong family resembelance between my grandmother and my cousins that I had never noticed before!
