Tic Toc - What is Our Time Really Worth?
I am sitting at the doctor's office waiting anxiously for the nurse to call my name so I can sit in the exam room until I am finally graced with the presence of the almighty doctor.
The question of "what is our time worth" came to mind.
Many people would say "time is money", but, I couldn't disagree more. As I get older I find that money is no longer on the top of my list of important things in life. In fact it is now way down on the list. Time is very valuable to me, but, in no way can it be equated to money.
Of course, I work for a living, and when someone takes up my time I feel cheated and frequently get a little cranky.
BUT, these precious moments that we have on earth should never be disregarded.
Special moments for me are getting a big, sloppy, kiss from one of my favorite men in the world, my golden retriever, Rocky.

Special moments for me are sitting at my desk with my feet up and laughing so hard I get tears in my eyes over one of the hundreds of funny things Will comes up with.

Special moments for me are doing goofy things with my daughter, Erin, who has the same crazy sense of humor as me.
Special moments for me are going out to dinner with my husband Craig and having him reach across the table to take my hands while he tells me how beautiful I am. (He is a good liar).

I am not willing to give up any of my special moments for any amount of money.
What is time worth to me? Time for me is invaluable because it allows me to live life to the fullest in what short time I will be here.

Belinda, a few years ago I did a project keeping track of hours spent in real estate vs what I made, and was pleasantly surprised. Today, I would be surprised as well, just would not pleasant!
Great comments. Was sitting in the Doctors office 2 weeks ago with my 20 year old son waiting to get rechecked for the 4th time for his lapse of judgement and Batman leap from a 12 foot balcony.
He was frustrated at the 45 minute late wait...ME? I was spending time with my college bound son who lives away from us and has since 2 days after he turned 18 years old and left for college...I was content in the fact that even at the Doctors office waiting for a tardy DR., I was talking with one of the most important people I have ever known...and I could care less that I was missing work for the chance...or that the Dr was late.
And time is something you can't grab back or have enough of. Thanks for posting!
Joan, I don't think I would want to know what I make per hour....
Mike, That is great. I guess you just have to make the most of the time you have no matter where you are.
Carla, You are right. You can never get it back.
I love how my kid's pediatrician schedules six patients from 9am. Nothing like leaving a 9am appointment at 1215 to get me thinking of the value of time.
Doug, I'm not sure why doctors think this is OK. It stresses everyone out.
Hi, Belinda. Time is very precious to all of us. I agree that money doesn't really have anything to do with those few precious moments we cherish with our family, friends, and our pets. I hope you don't have to wait as long as my wife and I did last week for her oncology visit. We waited 2 and a half hours to see the doctor. But, then again. most of us will wait long periods to hear about our health.
One of my doctors offers 7:30 am appointments and I always opt for it! I'm number one so no other patients can slow the doctor down and I have my whole day ahead to go have fun special moments! I love date night... my hubby may need glasses too but I love his love!
Jerry. It ended up being a 1 hour and 15 minute wait. I was fine though. I wrote three blogs during the wait. They are sitting in Draft mode waiting to be posted.
Laura, Yes I reluctantly agreed to a 3pm appt. I knew I was doomed.
Boy Belinda, I figure when you have tears in your eyes I am being to mean as a business partner. Funny post. Have a good one!
Great post Belinda, and so true.
Your special moments are all wonderful. Your husband Craig sounds like quite the guy :)
Hi Belinda...Thank you for letting me know about your post. I love one of today's quotes on my Google home page:
I finally figured out the only reason to be alive is to enjoy it. - Rita Mae Brown
I read it after I had written my post but I thought it was perfect.
Kate
Oh, I so have to disagree. My work time is worth $100 an hour in most cases, but my spare time is priceless, so you’re going to have to come up with a lot of money to take it from me JJJJ
Belinda - this is a very touching post with great pictures to match. Puts it all into perspective.
Kerrie, Thanks - I think I will keep him.
Kate, That is a great quote.
Russel, You are so silly. What is your time at the zoo or with Zoey worth?
Jill, Thanks. The things we can get done while waiting to BE NEXT
Wow Belinda, you nailed that one. The important things are those that make you feel good and groovy, the warm fuzzy memory, the smile....oooh yes you nailed it!
Great post, You're just always thinking no matter where you are or what you're doing. Thinking and posting. What a great use of time!
