Getting to know the Groves!

Since this is my first post to my blog-and hopefully one of 104 a year, let me introduce myself. My name is Judy Greenberg and I'm a realtor in the Buffalo Grove, Long Grove area. If you mentioned the word Long Grove to me 30 years ago- I would have commented- oh that historical cute town in the Boonies- its a road trip from the Northwest side of Chicago! Well it is still a quaint village with 80 shops, galleries, and restaurants 35 miles from the city, but with the advent of highways, its no longer a day trip. I moved to Long Grove 15 years ago, and have loved the combination rural and city life. Houses are at least 1 acre apart from your next door neighbor so you don't have to worry about people watching you sunbath, but close enough that your children can ride their bikes to their friend's house. Grocery stores and schools are almost always 5 minutes away from most subdivisions. I would like more gas stations, since I'm always on empty without a gas station in site. Long Grove also has many fun festivals for all ages. This weekend October 5th, 6th and 7th, Long Grove will host its 15th annual apple festival from 10am to 6pm. The apple cider donuts at the Apple Haus are delicious. I used to love the brown bag apple pie, but they must have changed the recipe, since it is no longer up to my standards. The Long Grove Confectionary- famous for its chocolate covered strawberries should be your next stop. They are so good.... One more suggestion and its not about food this time. I suggest you get to the Apple Festival early in the morning since parking can be a real problem!
